Camp activities include kayaking, crabbing, clamming, birding, surf fishing and more. Day Camp is offered to children who have successfully completed 3rd, 4th, or 5th grades by summer 2009. The minimum age for participants is 8 years old. Applications are available at the Herbert H. Bateman Educational and Administrative Center. The Marine Science Consortium programs include Family Camps, Exploritas Programs, Cycling Tours, Kayaking Tours, Photography and Folk Art Workshops, and Summer Camps. The beaches, marshes, bays, maritime forests, and off-shore waters of Virginia's Eastern Shore are The Consortium's classroom. Their facilities include new residence suites, dining hall, classrooms/meeting spaces, research labs and flat bottom boats and oceanic research vessels.
