Come make old-time music with your feet while you move to the rhythm of live Appalachian music played by skilled performers and Eastern Shore fixtures: Allen Philpot, Jeff Madson, Sheila Sheppard, Scott Wade, Dan Crockett and Jeff Gray.

"The music just goes in your ear, down through your soul, and comes out through your feet.’’

Seminar - "Are You a Copernican?"  -  Melfa
(3/3/2017)
Calendar Image

Science and Philosophy Seminar of the Eastern Shore of Virginia has scheduled its next seminar, “Are You a Copernican?”

Led  by Van Smith, the Seminar aims to enable the attendees to follow Copernicus in his restatement of an ancient idea of Aristarchus that the Sun is the center of the Solar System, so that they can know not just that the Earth moves, but at any given moment, where.  Attendees are urged to bring a sketch pad and pencil, as drawings may make this very difficult perception possible.

Her signature vibrant colors and full canvas is teeming with Eastern Shore life. “I’m a seasider and when I look at the marshes I don’t just see green and mud. I see bubbles rising to the surface, snails moving along the blades, crabs scuttling...I see life everywhere I look and life is color. That’s why I use so many bright colors in my paintings because it’s the way I have to fill it all in.”  - Bethany Simpson
