Directed by Clelia Sheppard and Mellisa Stein

Historic Palace Theatre
301-305 Mason Avenue
Cape Charles, VA  23310

In “Laundry and Bourbon”, directed by Clelia Sheppard,  the action centers on the discontent and very funny gossip of three small-town wives whose marriages have turned out to be less than was hoped for. It was written as a companion piece to “Lonestar”, directed by Mellisa Stein, a  hilarious study of a pair of Texas "good ole boys" on a Saturday night carouse.  The play introduced McLure as an exciting new playwright of major potential. The plays constitute a full evening of theatre fun.

(11/22/2014 - 11/30/2014)

Waterfowl Celebrated in

Traditional Thanksgiving Week Events

Assateague and Chincoteague Islands

The peak of fall migration for wintering waterfowl is traditionally celebrated during Thanksgiving week on Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. In order to provide optimum viewing opportunities for thousands of Snow Geese and the multitude of ducks, herons, egrets, ibis, bald eagles, and even wild Chincoteague Ponies, the Wildlife Loop will be open extended hours November 22-30 from 9:00 a.m. to dusk. Other activities, bird walks, interesting lectures, and plenty of surprises await you at Assateague Island Waterfowl Week.

The 28th Annual Deborah Waterfowl Show & Auction highlights the best of the best local talent in decoy carving, fine art in varied media, jewelry design, photography and other skilled artisan categories. More than 100 exhibitors show and sell their exquisite one-of-a-kind pieces on November 28 & 29 at the Chincoteague Combined School located at 4586 Main Street Chincoteague. Show hours are: Friday November 28 - 1:00-6:00 p.m. and Saturday November 29 -- 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There's just enough time to head down to Robert Reed Park to see the lighting of the Town Christmas Tree at 5:00 p.m. before the live auction on Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m., ending the two day show benefiting the Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills NJ. A great way to kick off the Christmas Season!

Begin the Holidays on the islands. Relax and rejuvenate in the quiet solitude of Assateague Island and the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. Embrace the culture, history and heritage of Chincoteague Island as you meet and talk to local decoy carvers and working artisans. Plan your visit at www.chincoteaguechamber.com.
